Black-headed Gulls

Pulli ringing at Barden Reservoir was more productive in 2000 when well over the statutory 500 pulli could have been ringed. Foot and Mouth meant no access in 2001. In 2002 pulli were herded in to a corral thus minimizing disturbance at the rest of the colony and facilitated faster ringing. For the first time colour rings were used. 100 of the larger pulli out of the 400 ringed were given these colour rings. Red with four digits starting either 2H or 2K. At the time of writing one has already been sited on a large household tip near Gloucester. Our first record from this area. Please report sightings to Phil Bone

330 were ringed in 2003 - 500+ in 2004 - 442 in 2005
